What digital printing process do you use? The Printing Studio is equipped with a fabric inkjet printer setup to print with dyes. The dyes used work specifically with silks and nylon. Once printed we steam and wash fabric to set the dye.
Do you do direct to garment printing? No, we do direct to fabric digital printing. This means we print directly onto rolls of fabric. We can still do placement and engineered prints however the fabric will then need to be cut and sewn into a garment.
What file type should I use? Ideally your file will be 300dpi, RGB (specifically sRGB RGB1EC61966-2.1), saved as a flattened TIFF but with no compression.
Can I choose my own fabric? No. Fabrics must be pre-treated to accept the dyes used by our printer. We have a variety of silks and nylons for you to choose from.
Can I print the same design onto a variety of fabrics? Yes, however we will need to provide you with printed samples for each fabric. The dye reacts differently with each fabric base so there will be some variance.
What is the maximum printable width of the fabric? 135 cm for silks and 145 cm for nylons.
Do you have a minimum order? No. But the maximum length we can print in one batch, due to the capacity of our steamer, is 10m.
Will I be provided a sample before placing the final order? Yes. Our digital printing service is provided in two stages. Stage 1 – Strike off; is when we colour match and print samples. Ideally you will supply us with a hard copy version of your artwork to which we will colour match your file. Stage 2 – Printing service; is when we print the final approved job. Payment must be made before each stage can commence.
What is your turnaround time? Our standard turnaround time is two weeks but this will vary depending on the size and complexity of the job.
How will I receive my printed fabric? You can pick it from The Social Studio or we can arrange to have it couriered or posted for you.
Can you manufacture my printed fabric into a particular product? Yes. The Social Studio offers small-run manufacturing services. We specialise in manufacturing corporate gifts, and smaller items such as cushion covers, basic apparel and accessories. If you have something specific in mind we’d be happy to discuss your project in person, otherwise follow the link to our manufacturing page, here.
I don’t know anything about textile design do you offer a design service? Yes we can. We love to get to know our clients! Even if you are confident with design we recommend making an appointment with us to discuss your project. That way we can achieve the best result with our facilities.
